One Pen, Many nibs: Choice of Additional Nibs:

 Keeping in line with the Osprey philosophy of interchangeable nib units, a wide variety of nib units are offered below that will work with this pen.  Click on the hyperlinked choices to learn more about the nibs.

  • Choose from Osprey Regular Size 6 nib units in Steel or 2Tone. All Regular nibs used for everyday writing, come with a plastic feed and accept international standard converters or pre-filled ink cartridges, giving you the flexibility to use either bottled ink or pre-filled ink cartridge. The pen is fitted with an Osprey custom converter by default and is packaged in a premium pen box.
  • #6 Steel  Economical Special Grinds such as the Architect Broad, Architect BB, Zoom BB, Broad Left-Oblique or Broad Right-Oblique, Broad-Stub or Double Broad Stub. Similar to the Regular Size 6 nibs, the Speciality Grind nibs also accept international standard converters or pre-filled ink cartridges, giving you the flexibility to use either bottled ink or pre-filled ink cartridge or use with Osprey custom converter. 
  •  #5.5 Ultra-flex, #6 Ultra-flex (second generation), Zebra G or Titanium Ultra-flex assemblies:  Ultra-flex (UF) nibs are for ardent calligraphy users! You can purchase these as complete assembly for a seamless plug & play experience, or buy just nib units to swap. The assembly consists of an ultra-flex nib unit of your choice, which threads into the Outer Section of the pen, and comes with an Osprey converter. Only fountain-pen friendly inks  are recommended to avoid clogging the feed.

All ultra-flex and Zebra G nib units come with ebonite feed. Size 5.5 Ultra-flex, Zebra G Flex and Titanium Ultra-flex are non-cartridge type, meaning they do not take any prefilled ink cartridges or international converters. They are made to work with custom Osprey converters. Size 6 Ultra-flex nib units (second generation) on the other hand, take both, cartridge or  converter, which means you can use prefilled ink cartridges or use bottled ink.

    If you choose #5.5Ultra-flex or Zebra G flex nib-units/assemblies, be sure to add a nib-block kit , if you don't already have one. You can download a maintenance guide that helps in easy disassembly and assembly, when the feeds get clogged over time with use. The nib block does not accommodate size 6 nibs, you will instead need to use the grip provided in the kit for disassembly and assembly.

    options and aesthetics

    Brown fountain pens are hard to find. This Robusta Brown is so pleasing to my eye that I couldn't resist it. The barrel diameter is just right for a comfortable feel and the convertor holds enough ink to last for several days. The EF nib tracks a pleasant line, no snags or scratchiness. I love that the pen is made with so many nib options available. It's almost mind-boggling. I can see myself exploring this pen (with its interchangeable nib options) for the future.

    Best fountain pen purchase ever

    I have tried using fountain pens in the past but was underwhelmed. Vintage pens were lovely but out of my millennial price range; dip pens are cool but impractical. Then I saw this pen with optional flex nib upgrade on Pinterest and was intrigued. I bought it on a whim and I’m so glad I did!

    I am now a devoted Osprey fan! I will definitely purchase more of their products in the future. Thanks guys!

    Attractive and an excelent value

    At first I had skipped over the Scholar, having bought the Milano and been very pleased with it. But I really fancied this brown and black color scheme. The Scholar fits well in the hand and the Osprey F nib is lovely. The only snag I encountered was that the provided screw-in converter does not make a good seal with the section. I was unable to draw up bottled ink. However, Schmidt push-in style converters work just fine.

    I am impressed!

    I didn't know what to expect when I ordered this pen. Usually, as both a lefty and as one who writes small, fountain pens are hit or miss. The pen I ordered was shipped with an EEF nib and I couldn't be happier. The nib isn't scratchy but provides enough feedback. The flow of the ink is pretty reasonable, too. It flows just wet enough to keep the nib from scratching but not too much to saturate the paper. I originally tried Noodler's "54th Mass." but it was too much trouble. I instead inked it with "Aluminum Oxide" ink from trusty Birmingham Pens.

    As for a con, perhaps the only issue I found was when posting the cap while writing. The pen feels unbalanced when writing while posted. However, the pen is long enough to not require posting while writing.
